As parents we care deeply about the safety of all our customers. Black & Beech jewellery is crafted for parents to wear whilst caring for their babies. It is not a toy. As a customer, it is essential you understand and read the information provided to you about how your baby interacts with your jewellery. This is provided in the mailing insert, here, and elsewhere on our website, and if you have any questions please do email us.
When you receive your goods, give them a quick wash in warm soapy water before wearing them, and regularly thereafter. Condition the wooden beads with coconut oil or another food grade oil. You might find the silicone attracts a lot of fluff at first but this will die down over time and regular use and washing.
The beads that we use are tested to meet the Europe-wide children’s toy safety standard EN71 (Parts 1, 2, and 3). Wooden beads are generally either beech or maple and are totally untreated. Our silicone beads are manufactured from food-grade silicone. This is similar to that used to produce dummies and teats and is non-toxic, free from BPA and anything nasty. You should regularly apply coconut oil or another food grade oil to the wooden beads to nourish them and protect them from drool! At some point the wooden beads will have taken a battering and you should think about retiring your beads depending on use.
Our beads are strung on a very strong nylon cord for strength and durability. The clasp will open when pulled hard and is knotted multiple times. Please don’t let your baby chew these parts. If you don’t want a breakaway cord please message us and we can talk through options.
As with any product your baby interacts with, check the necklace over before each use. Look out for loose clasps or beads. Loose beads or parts could present a choking hazard. This hasn’t happened yet but if it does immediately contact us and don’t attempt to repair or wear your piece.
The jewellery should be stored out of the reach of children. Your Black&Beech jewellery is just that: a necklace and as such is not a toy. As far as it is legally possible, we disclaim any liability for the improper use of our teething necklace other than as described here.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org should you have any questions.
