From the late 1960s to the early 1980s, renowned Japanese war photographer Akihiko Okamura (1929-1985) created a remarkable, compelling and largely unseen body of work in Ireland, north and south.

September arrived and with it all the back to school vibes. I signed up to that yoga class, and forgot to go. I booked a yoga sesh on the beach and it pissed down. I met with a therapist, and got back to my gym sessions, one per week at the moment, hardly life changing. But it's something. It's steps.
Apparently research* shows September is hard wired from our lifecycle to give us that new notebook energy. It's certainly a period of reflection for me, and commitment, that feels harder in January. Mel Robbins (feels like a mate I listen so often now) tells me January is for dreaming, which frankly I love.
What do you dream about and long for?
For me, it's always routed in journeys and travel. A trip to mark a milestone, be that the death of my mother (I went to America) or Paris for my wedding anniversary the weekend just gone. Am I running away from my reality? Maybe. I think the liminal space does wonders. The world becomes expansive and somewhere full of opportunities and ideas to sit with.
