Rooted in the Mouvement de libération des femmes (Women’s Liberation Movement), this piece carries the urgency and clarity of a movement that refused to wait.

The demands were simple and radical: the right to manage our own bodies, the collectivisation of care work long expected of women, shared responsibility for raising children, and true equality at work without discrimination.

Fifty years on, it still hits. Still relevant. Still unfinished.

Black & Beech was created by me, Stacey Grant-Canham, as a part-time side hustle whilst on maternity leave with my first son.
